Guild Wars manual updates?

Where can I get those if possible? The game refuses to update! it just stops at 0% and nothing happens for hours. Its really annoying coz ive waited a long time since I reinstalled.


Guild Wars will be down for scheduled security maintenance on Tuesday 10/28/2008 from 12:00 am PST (7:00 am GMT) to 3:00 am PST (10:00 am GMT). During the maintenance period, the game servers will be taken offline and players will be unable to login to the game and play at this time.


Maybe thats why? But I have been trying to update since 2 days ago :S

Don't recall seeing anything like this. My only thought is maybe your firewall or what have you doesn't like Guild Wars. I'm not a tech person in any way, so anything over the simple stuff is beyond me. You could try asking in one of the large forums like GWG, although most of the site is completely moronic the tech section is usually pretty helpful.

Maybe on there? Or maybe it is your firewalls or something blocking the download.

Have you checked the GW support page?

If I had to guess it's your firewall throwing a hissyfit. I'd turn it off when trying to run the update and see if that does anything.

My firewall is never online though

I cant think of a reason why it would be doing this other then whats been said. Maybe you should email the tech GW support team if you already havent?

Try GWG's tech forum-they're pretty smart over there (for the most part).

I have contacted Guild wars support but the only thing they respond with is "have you checked your computer for viruses?".. unfortunatly the computer is newly re-formated with a new harddrive and scanned. So theres nothing like that..

I have also re-installed gw as they tell me could be a solution. Uugh, sometimes I wonder what support really does.

"Have you tried turning it off and on again..." Kind of thing lol, i think they just sit at there computer all day playing games and check there email now and then lol

But yeah, only thing that i can think of is that something is blocking you downloading & installing the updates.

Did you install GW from the cd or by downloading the client?

Doesn't ANet keep the lastest build available for download on their site somewhere?

I seem to remember someone saying that and I don't know if it's true or not.

I have checked for the manual updates but there are none.. this is really pissing me of to be honest now. Damn it

I don't know if this will work or not.

All the information that is downloaded goes to the gw.dat file in your GW directory. In theory you can transfer this from computer to computer without any problems. However, it's very big (about 4-5GB).

Perhaps someone can send it to you via XFire or some sort of file sharing software.

That could work, mine is only 3.5GB, i could send it to you over msn? But i am at work tonight so it would have to be sometime soon or tomorrow
